Welcome to Little Equestrians!

My name is Kristy Hirst owner and operator since 2018.

I grew up on our family farm near Lac du Bonnet, MB. I was surrounded by horses from a young age and was always drawn to my four-legged friends in the barn.

It’s such a beautiful thing when a career and passion come together. My loving husband and two fabulous children inspire my unique program. With the love for children and the strong passion for the equine field, I am pleased to provide professionalism and commitment to all partnerships with parents.

I’m a graduate of Equine Business Management program, which is located in Olds Alberta, and a University course studying Horse Behaviour and safety. I have also obtained a certificate in Equine first Aid and CPR / First Aid for riders. I am a Certified Riding Instructor and my lesson program follows Riding and facility standards set out by the Certified Horsemanship Association. The safety of my students takes #1 priority.

I have been in the Childcare field for over 20 years, working as a Qualified Early Childhood Educator and Nursery School Teacher. Having worked many years with and around horses and students, I am well-versed in how to apply my teaching strategies to young riders. The scope of my experiences allows me to provide a safe and supportive active learning environment for all children. I have incorporated my experience and training into Little Equestrians.

In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

What folks are saying:

Little Equestrians has been very beneficial for my daughter. The learning and encouragement she received while attending helped build confidence not only in dealing with horses but will serve her well in future endeavours. The instructor was patient and developed good rapport with her. I highly recommend this learning experience for youngsters.
